This section is the superior (proximal) surface of the next section, looking distally.

This section passes through the calcaneus (15) and the first (20), second (2), third (7), fourth (8), and fifth (9) metatarsals. It cuts the proximal (21) and distal (23) phalanges of the first digit, the proximal and distal of the third (3, 4), and the proximal and middle of the fourth (5, 6). The lateral (17) and medial (18) plantar nerves are identified along with the lateral plantar artery (11).
